Holidays. (Christmas and the New Year)

***Please note: The following piece dates back to my time in the international agency; Emotions

Anonymous, which provides help for people with emotional difficulties, balancing their

emotions and thought processes. As a past group/chapter member, I wrote what follows during

one of my monthly meetings from December 2011, the local group dissolved sadly back in 2012,

for various reasons; however, I did find this group to be beneficial, EA takes its 12 step program

from the structure of AA for alcoholics, both groups are similiar, but follow different areas of our

daily lives, please enjoy and share this post, Happy 2026 and bye for now. P.S. I was still fortunate

enough to find this old writing in my remaining past collection of my works from over the years,

since I returned to creative writing as a whole way back in later 2001, almost 25 years ago, not

long after the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, thank you for your continued support.***

When I was a child, Christmas was probably my favourite holiday of the year, until I learned

that Santa Claus isn't real. The love and comfort being with family and friends for me is still

evident; however, Christmas is a harder time of year now following the loss of my grandparents;

my grandfather on Dec. 19th, 2010; and my grandmother, ill and in hospital during Christmas of

2003, and her passing away shortly thereafter in January of 2004. It was Dec. 28th, 2010, that I

lost an acquaintance with whom I worked/volunteered at the local United Way offices. As I have

gotten older, I've felt that Christmas indeed has lost its "festive" spirit, but being with family at

this time of year, and in my life in general, was and still remains important to me. Without the

love of my family and friends, I would probably be truly lost and defeated emotionally. Lastly,

it's nice to be back with the support and friendship of E.A., and may the New Year be a successful,

regular return to the group meetings for myself, before they ended at that time along with the group

itself. I wish everyone peace and love during this holiday season and a happy and safe New Year to

you all, thanks for your time and attention. Until next time to all of my literary supporters.
